Vietnamese Association of Illinois

The Vietnamese Association of Illinois (VAI) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization providing comprehensive support services to Vietnamese Americans and diverse ethnic communities throughout Chicago, IL and the surrounding region. Since 1976, VAI has developed an extensive range of programs addressing the multifaceted needs of the communities it serves. The organization facilitates resettlement and citizenship services, helping individuals navigate the immigration process and establish themselves in Illinois. VAI's employment support services connect community members with job opportunities and career development resources. Healthcare advocacy and support address critical wellness needs, while political awareness initiatives empower residents to engage in civic participation. Educational programs serve all age groups, from youth development to senior services that address multigenerational challenges. VAI also supports entrepreneurship and business development, assisting community members in establishing and expanding their own enterprises. Additionally, the organization works to strengthen cultural heritage through various programming that celebrates Vietnamese American identity and traditions. Originally centered in Uptown Chicago, VAI expanded its reach in 2016 by opening a satellite office in DuPage County, extending services across a broader geographic area. Through thousands of successful interventions, VAI has established itself as a trusted resource for resettlement support, community building, employment assistance, healthcare navigation, educational opportunities, and cultural preservation for Vietnamese Americans and other ethnic groups throughout Illinois.
