Vietnamese American Initiative for Development

The Vietnamese American Initiative for Development (VietAID) provides comprehensive community development services designed to strengthen neighborhoods and support economic advancement in Dorchester, MA. Since 1994, VietAID has delivered specialized programs across multiple service areas including affordable housing development, small business technical assistance, child care services, and civic engagement initiatives. The organization has completed the construction of an 18,000 square foot Vietnamese American Community Center that serves as a hub for cultural and civic activities, while developing 84 units of affordable housing and 6 commercial spaces throughout Fields Corner. VietAID's Small Business Assistance Program operates on a statewide level, promoting entrepreneurial growth and strengthening existing businesses within the Vietnamese community. The organization also provides occupational safety and health education to workers and business owners in Vietnamese-dominated industries, collaborating with environmental health advocacy agencies to promote safer practices. Additional services include first-time homebuyer education that has served over 400 Vietnamese families, foreclosure prevention counseling, early childhood education and care through center-based and home-based programs, and youth enrichment programs. VietAID continues to expand its reach through community garden initiatives, cultural celebrations, and neighborhood-wide collaborative safety efforts, making it a cornerstone resource for community development and economic opportunity in the Dorchester area.
